The Challenge: High-Frequency Hardware Telemetry

Managing a network of EV chargers requires seamless hardware-to-software communication. The challenge was building an infrastructure that could process heavy asynchronous tasks—like charging logs, billing calculations, and hardware health pings—without locking up the main server, while simultaneously providing a flawless UI for the driver waiting at the station.

Bursty message queues during simultaneous peak hour plug-ins
Strict OCPP 1.6J state machine and heartbeat timeout constraints
Real-time precision metering required for dynamic tariff calculations
Three-Tier Architectural Resolution

The Solution & Driver Experience

A decoupled, resilient system connecting physical charging stations to real-time operator and driver interfaces.

Celery + FastAPI

Backend Reliability & Asynchronous Queues

We utilized Celery and FastAPI with Redis acting as the high-throughput message broker between physical charging hardware and background worker pools. When a station sends telemetry, heavy calculations and logbook ingestion are offloaded to Redis queues, ensuring the core API remains lightning-fast.

Driver UX

Commuter Driver Experience

The user-facing dashboard was crafted with the daily commuter in mind. We ensured that real-time telemetry from the chargers translates instantly to the app, providing accurate power delivery stats and session costs for drivers of modern electric vehicles like the MG ZS EV, removing the guesswork from public charging.
